From Tany

Asher and Danika wanted to share some of their experiences during our upcoming visit to Burkina Faso (West Africa) with their classmates here in Canada, as well as our friends and family.  So we are planning on using this blog to do just that.
A year and a half ago, we moved back to Canada after living in Burkina Faso for 5 1/2 years and serving within a church context there.  On Nov 9th, we'll be starting our trip back to Burkina to visit friends and my brother-in-law and his family there.  We'll be there for 3 weeks, spending the first and last week in the capital city of Ouagadougou (Wa-ga-doo-goo) where we lived.  During the middle week, we'll travel down to a couple smaller villages where we would visit regularly.
Right now, the pile of things to pack is growing, as is the kids' excitement at returning to the people and places that they all three still remember very well and with great fondness.  Kenai had completely lost his French within months of returning to Canada at the age of 3 but is recovering his understanding of the language remarkably well as we practice speaking it.  Danika and Asher have both lost some of the vocabulary and ease with which they used to speak French, but I suspect that this will come back quickly.  So we'll try to share our adventures with you periodically throughout this trip.   ---Tany

Kenai says...

Kenai says "I want to see my friend Ébé and play soccer with him because we are bringing him a new soccer ball."

From Asher

The 3 things I am looking forward to doing, are going to the Chinese restoront, seeing friends, and playing soccer!   Asher

Excited!!

I am really looking forward to seeing my friends in Burkina Faso. I'm especially looking forward to going places with them like Faso Park. There are all sorts of rides and games there. The elephant and dinosaur that you climb up and slide down are a little bit young for me. My favorite ride is the bumper cars. I am probably going to be allowed to drive them by myself!! I'll tell you more about our trip once we get there!  Danika
